COUNCIL BLUFFS – Hampton-Dumont graduate Mario Peña was the National Junior College Athletic Association runner-up at 285 pounds, earning his second all-American status as a wrestler for NIACC.
Peña, who was fourth at the same weight class as a freshman, lost by fall to Iowa Central’s Thomas Petersen in two minutes, 33 seconds.
He became the first NIACC heavyweight in the finals since Bob Fouts won the national heavyweight title in 1973.
