WEBSTER CITY – Twice previously top-ranked Mario Peña had trouble figuring out the long frame of Forest City heavyweight Tyler Putney.

He had no such trouble in the Class 2A district final at Webster City, scoring a reversal against Putney in the second period and then earning what turned out to be the winning escape at the 1 minute, 10-second mark to earn a return trip to state.

“It feels just as good as last time,” Peña said of his second shot at the state field. “If not better with the upset.”
