Opportunities for fall fun abound

Editorial: Summer is over and the air has quickly shifted to cool but it’s not quite time to lock yourselves inside.
The cool air, the changing colors and the end of the growing season provide great opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. In Franklin County alone, the Hampton Cemetery Walk and the Harriman-Nielsen Fall Festival will provide ample opportunities to enjoy the fall and celebrate some of the area’s points of pride. As usual, these events have the time and efforts of many volunteers to bring these to the community, so we need to show our support in turn.
Additionally, one of the highlights of fall is the changing colors. The natural areas of the county provide breathtaking views of the oranges, reds and yellows. Whether a hike or a drive, taking in the views that this time of year brings around is an opportunity that cannot be missed.
These are just a few examples of ways to take advantage of the fall outside. Inside, fall brings a unique line of offerings as well.
Area restaurants and shops roll out new recipes and wares to warm one’s insides and bring a touch of color to homes. If it’s too chilly to spend the day outside, get out to the shops and stores to see what inspiration they’ve drawn from the fall setting.
Before long, the seemingly non-stop rain will turn to snow. Now is the time to enjoy the outdoors and experience the events and opportunities the community has to offer this time of year.
