HAMPTON – If that was the last action Kaci Arjes ever sees on the basketball court, it wasn’t a bad note to end on.
The freshman for Hampton-Dumont who was recently diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, HCM for short, a heart condition that makes the heart muscle enlarged, was cleared by doctors to play the equivalent of one more quarter of basketball.
She came on with the Bulldogs leading Clarion-Goldfield-Dows by more than 20 points in H-D’s 58-29 win over the Cowgirls.
“Yeah, I was really nervous,” Kaci Arjes said of her last playing time, “but I think I did good. It felt really good.”
The entire story appears in the Feb. 15 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
