CLEAR LAKE — Despite three fumble recoveries, Hampton-Dumont’s defense couldn’t transition to its offense in a 46-0 loss at Class 2A eighth-ranked Clear Lake on Friday, Sept. 21.
And, also in spite of good defense, H-D couldn’t find a way to stop Lion junior quarterback Jaylen DeVries, who was an astounding 14-of-18 passing for 271 yards and four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Class 2A District 3 opener between the two teams.
Nick Danielson was his primary, but certainly not only target, catching five of the passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns. Tate Storbeck caught four more passes for 71 and the other two scores.
The full story appears in the Sept. 26 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
