New Rowan grain facility nearing completion

The western Franklin County skyline experienced some profound changes this summer thanks to a multi-million dollar capital investment.
     Four grain bins and other structures were erected during an extended construction period that began in the spring. The additions are part of NEW Cooperative’s latest expansion project and will replace the company’s outdated elevator in Rowan. According to company officials, the location will provide additional offerings and improved amenities for area farmers.
     “Work has gone great, construction has gone great, and everything should all be done and ready to go by harvest time,” said Mark Walter, NEW Cooperative grain manager. “We’ve been pleased with progress.”
