New program hopes to beautify Hampton with mural art

Downtown Hampton may see a new look soon thanks to a little fresh paint and a lot of artistic vision.
     The Chamber’s Main Street Design Committee is in the process of implementing its new Alley Art program, which aims to beautify buildings with creative murals and other artwork. The program has been successful in a handful of communities across the state as a means to revamp bland or unsightly walls in commercial areas.
     According to Chamber director Newton Grotzinger, the murals would tell Hampton’s story through the avenue of art.
