New Marketing and Publicity Manager gears up for her first Franklin County Fair

Ever since Barb Muilenburg was a child, she has had a passion for fairs and festivals. Growing up, the Davenport, Iowa, native always attended her local fair — the Mississippi Valley Fair — and some of her fondest memories are of the rides, tasty treats and family bonding she experienced there. And later in her life, she worked as a full-time event planner in the Chicago area, where she spent her days coordinating community festivals and special events.
Now, Muilenburg has been able to channel her passion for community events into working as the new Marketing and Publicity Manager for the Franklin County Fair, and she is just a few weeks away from experiencing the fair for the first time.
“Community fairs and festivals, that’s kind of where my passion is,” Muilenburg said. “Bringing community together, families together and encouraging people who grew up here to come back.”
