New DNR officer looks to step up enforcement in Franklin County

New DNR Conservation Officer Jordon Hansen is hoping increased law enforcement will curb a recent wave of illegal hunting, fishing and trapping in Franklin County.

     Hansen began his duties in July. His territory includes Franklin and Butler counties, and he will patrol every public waterway, hunting reserve and recreation area within those borders. He was hired in January and is Franklin and Butler County’s first conservation officer in nearly three years.

     Previously, the area was patrolled by DNR officers from neighboring counties.

     “I’m very impressed with the amount of properties that both the conservation boards and counties have, as well as the some of the state properties that are in both the areas,” he said.
