Ms. Nina sells buiness to former student

     The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree for local dance instructor Nina Esslinger.
     This spring, Esslinger sold Ms. Nina’s Dance Center to former student Summer Jo (Pearson) Schmidt. The transition will close out Esslinger’s storied career in dance, which began decades ago when she was a child growing up in the Philippines.
     “Leaving it will be hard,” she said. “I think there will be a point where I really miss it.”
     Esslinger came to the United States in 1970 on a scholarship to study at the National Ballet School in Washington, D.C. She later moved to the Sheffield area after marrying her husband, Joel, and opened her first studio in 1976.
