Incumbent Stacy Miller held off challenger Jenni Swart by nine votes to earn another term on the Hampton-Dumont Board of Education during Tuesday's election.
Miller earned 111 votes to Swart's 102 in the Dumont Director District. The race was the lone contested seat on this year's ballot at H-D, which saw an overall voter turnout of 5.3 percent.
Other candidates earning spots on the H-D board included incumbents Ron Raney, Erran Miller and newcomer Tom Birdsell. The trio ran uncontested for three open board seats in the Hampton Director District. Raney received 165 votes, Miller 201 and Birdsell 179 votes.
Two public measures also passed by wide margins at H-D. A measure adopting a revenue purpose statement was approved 178 to 31, and a measure extending the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy (PPEL) was approved 163-51.
At CAL, incumbent Director District 3 candidate Rob Peil was re-elected with 73 votes. At-Large candidate Tracy Quinones received 30 votes against 32 write-in votes, but it appears she won the seat despite the two-vote difference. Cathy Carlson received 26 write-in votes and there were six other scattered ballots.
Turnout in the CAL election was 7.8 percent. The results will not be official until they're canvassed at the next board of supervisors meeting.
