Meghan Freie appointed to Ward I council seat

The Hampton City Council added a new member to its ranks at its July 24 meeting.

     Meghan Freie was appointed to the vacant Ward I seat following a unanimous vote by the council. She succeeds Valerie Haugebak, who resigned from the position on July 11 due to scheduling conflicts with her new job. Freie was sworn in after last week’s meeting and will serve the remainder of Haugebak’s term, which expires on Dec. 31, 2015.

     Haugebak had been on the council since 2012.

     “I’m mostly just looking forward to working with other members of the community and listening to what their concerns are and seeing what I can you to address those,” said Freie.
