Meet the School Board candidates

By:
Ethan Stoetzer

The following are transcribed interviews with all five of the candidates running for the Hampton-Dumont Board of Education, this upcoming Tuesday, Sept. 12. All candidates were contacted via email to participate in these interviews and all were given the same questions to answer, without follow-ups. The seats available in this election are two Hampton seats, and one Hampton-Dumont at-large seat. The Hampton Chronicle has not vouched support for any candidate and printed these interviews in no particular order. Interviews were edited for conciseness. This feature was done as a public service to voters ahead of the election.
Name: Chad Hanson
Seat: Hampton
Have you ever held an electable position and if so, what and for how long?
I have been on the Hampton school board for about eight years now. Prior to that I was on the Hampton City Council. I’m on the planning and zoning commission in Hampton as well, for several years now. Besides that I’m president of the North Iowa Fire Board, which is a basketball program, and past president of the Hampton Country Club. I’ve been on the Parish Council, probably quite a few that I’m missing. I’m pretty active in a lot of different organizations.
Name: Karen Koenig

I was a volunteer for the Hampton Trees Forever board.

Have you ever held an electable position and if so, what and for how long?
I have never held an elected position. I was on the board of the Windsor Theatre for two terms, so six total years. I was on the Head Start parent advisory board as well.
Name: Jeff Rosenberg
Seat: Hampton seat
Have you ever held an electable position and if so, what and for how long?
I was just recently the Hampton-Dumont at-large position on the school board the last four years, so I’m technically running for re-election for the next for years.
Name: Hortencia Saldivar
Seat: Hampton-Dumont At-Large
Have you ever held an electable position and if so, what and for how long?
Not necessarily here. My job, I work for a company in Wright County, and my community involvement has been there. My employer has done a lot to restore what was a theatre there in Clarion and we took part in that.
