The weather was damp but that didn't stop crowds from flocking around Hampton's Main Street on Friday for the annual Friday Uncorked.
Inviting locals and visitors alike to tour downtown and sample a variety of wines, many from Iowa vineyards, the ninth annual wine walk very nearly sold out this year, bringing more than 230 people to downtown Hampton to shop and sample at 13 locations.
"We had another year where everybody enjoyed themselves," said Newton Grotzinger, director of the Franklin County Area Chamber of Commerce. "It's a good time to get people downtown and kick off the holiday season."
Hampton businesses were happy to host wine tastings for the event, encouraging customers to stop in for some early Christmas shopping as they enjoyed drinks and snacks.
