Two local hog farmers have teamed up to fill a void left on Latimer’s Main Street following last month’s closing of Corner Market.

Landon Plagge and Travis Pralle will open Latimer Community Grocery in the former Latimer Café sometime in October after extensive renovations are completed inside the building. The new business will offer essential grocery items like milk, eggs and bread in addition to other products like frozen foods and ice cold beer. The store will also sell more products geared towards the community’s growing Hispanic population.

“We were always talking opening one after Corner Market closed,” said Pralle. “It’s so vital for a community to have a store, because once that goes you start losing everything and it just snowballs. It’ll just all follow if you don’t have one.”
