Donations for a special fundraiser at the Hampton Public Library hit $25,000 last week, but there’s still some ground to make up if it’s to reach the $50,000 goal by Dec. 20.
The fundraiser started on Nov. 1 and aims to collect the amount in 50 days from local residents and businesses. The money will help pay for renovations to the building’s curved brick wall, which has a bulge in THE exterior and needs repairs. The project is hoped to start sometime this spring and will cost more than $100,000 to complete.
Library Director Kim Manning said donation amounts have been all over the board. One local farmer dedicated a portion of his soybean harvest to the fundraiser, while other donations have been as small as $5.
