Honoring America's Vietnam vets

Letter to the Editor:

Finally, people are going to recognize the men who fought in the Vietnam War.
Aug. 26-30, Forest City will have four days of events to honor our forgotten heroes. These boys did not have a choice. They experienced such horrible conditions that most won’t talk about it. Many were injured; many died.
They came back to a country that was demonstrating against the war. These young men fought for all of us and the American people turned their backs on them. They were spit on and called “baby killers.” Most were just kids.
I have met many of the Vietnam vets and they are exceptional men. I am proud and honored.
Now, we as a nation have the opportunity to honor and thank them and the men and women of the military, past and present. Please take the time to do the right thing and visit Forest City for “Operation LZ.”
Go to www.operationlz.com to find out more. I hope to see you there.
     God bless our veterans.
