Latimer Council approves of utility rate amendment; sets fines for animals at large

The Latimer Council approved of a utility rates amendment to it Utility Rates Ordinance that allows for a 3 percent increase in utility rates, annually. City Clerk Melissa Simmons said that such amendments would not take place until July of 2018. Council must still pass an amendment before any increase in rates.
The council also approved of a schedule of fines for animals at large. After seeing an uptick in dogs roaming the neighborhood without leashes later this past summer, the council decided to add fines to complaints in order to deter loose animals. After a second recorded complaint, owner of an at-large animal will have to pay a $50 fine; after a third registered complaint, the owner of the at-large animal will have to pay $100.
In other news, the council approved of Landon Plagge as the city’s emergency snow removal at a rate of $10 per hour. The council also approved of Mort’s Water providing water to two toilets and two sinks and a water line to the new bathrooms at West Park for a price of $1,150.
