A love of helping businesses excel and a passion for community collaboration has landed Katie LaBree in the role of Franklin County Development Association Executive Director.
LaBree, a Minnesota native, was selected to fill the position left by former executive director Karen Mitchell, who retired earlier this year. She began her service with FCDA last week.
LaBree brings with her several years of economic development and entrepreneurial experience. She was previously in charge of economic development for Parkersburg, Iowa and currently owns a graphic design and marketing company. Prior to Parkersburg, she’s worked for the Job Development Authority in Wishek, North Dakota.
In her time in economic development, LaBree said she’s thoroughly enjoyed the chance to work with businesses to become and remain members of their respective communities.
“There’s nothing like being there when a company opens its doors on the first day or sitting with someone who is struggling to keep their business afloat,” she said. “It’s helping people that keeps me passionate.”
