James David Harding, 81

James David Harding, 81, of Hampton, Iowa passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022, at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton with burial in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton.

Jim was born on September 9, 1940, in Clarion, Iowa to  Louis and Marjorie (Gibbons) Harding. Jim was a 1958  graduate from Pope Joy High School and married his beloved wife Shelia (True) on January 7, 1961 in Mason City, Iowa.  They moved to several locations before making  settling in Hampton, Iowa where they enjoyed 48 years of marriage.

Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, bowling, spending time with his family, and an occasional trip to the casino (especially when he was winning). Before his health started to decline, he was able to travel and enjoy quality time with his brother Larry in Maui, Hawaii.  

Jim is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Marjorie, his wife Shelia, and his sister Jeanette.

He is survived by his three children, Cindy Harding of Hampton, Iowa, his son Brett (Jane) Harding of Iowa Falls, Iowa, and his daughter RaNay (Mike) Finnegan of         Humboldt, Iowa; His siblings Larry (Dixie) Harding, Connie (Don) Bahr, Kathi (Dick) Dohrmann, and Pat Johansen; His grandchildren Julia Showalter, Tyson (Allysa) Sharp, Coltin Craighton, Madison Craighton, and Tonya Harding; His great grandchildren Chase Showalter, Sierra Showalter, and Octavia Davis.  Jim was also blessed with many nieces,   nephews, and cousins.
