Students at Hampton-Dumont Middle School packed the gym last Thursday for a special educational event aimed at promoting smart choices and a healthy lifestyle.
Around half a dozen stations exploring multiple topics were on display during the first-ever H-D Middle School Health Fair. Students received lessons in things like nutrition, CPR and the dangers of tobacco from local health professionals during the event, which featured many hands-on exhibits and visual graphics.
The health fair was coordinated by H-D teachers and made possible by a $500 grant.
“I think it went over really well,” said middle school Principal Tony Spradlin. “This is the first time we’ve done something across multiple curriculars – diet, exercise, medical care, health. I hope our students learned a few things that will help them in life.”
