HAMPTON – The last time Hampton-Dumont boys’ basketball team played Iowa Falls-Alden, the Cadets were without their star player with a fractured finger.
The Bulldogs won the first meeting in a close one.
This time, Karson Sharar had been cleared to play and went off for 24 points in a 79-45 win for IF-A over H-D on Saturday, Feb. 2. He had been cleared to play late last week and had the Bulldogs played on Tuesday, Jan. 29, he may not have been back for the game. However, weather delayed the game allowing for his return.
And coach Heath Walton’s team couldn’t have had a worse start to a game this season.
“What I hope it wasn’t that we didn’t come out and think, ‘holy cow, they’ve got a really good scorer, what are we going to be able to do?’”
The full story appears in the Feb. 6 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
