Heyde invites council to October trial; threatens lawsuit

For the second time in two meetings, local landlord Milton Heyde criticized the Hampton City Council for unfair ordinance enforcement and also claimed one council member was failing to keep his property up to code.

     Heyde, who has recently battled city officials over nuisance citations issued to his rental properties, appeared before the council via telephone at last Thursday’s meeting. He was banned from all city-owned property last month after sending a series of letters to City Hall that were perceived as threats.

      Heyde was given five minutes during the public comment period to make his remarks. He opened by extending an invitation to the council for an Oct. 28 court trial regarding a July nuisance violation issued to one of his properties.
