The Harriman-Nielsen Fall Festival will bring an afternoon of fun and entertainment to families and friends. On Sunday, Oct. 8 from 2- 5 p.m., the Harriman-Nielsen historic farm restoration site will open it grounds for various fall activities including free concerts, wagon rides and contests.
Patrons are encouraged to participate in the event by bringing their biggest pumpkin or their tallest corn stalk, or both, as well as their creative eye for pumpkin decorating. For card players, a cribbage tournament will also be ongoing.
From 2-4 p.m., several Franklin County 4-H clubs will run old-fashioned carnival games with prizes for children. The Franklin Clover Kids program will be sponsoring VEGGIE 500 races from 3-4 p.m. as well. There will even be a special decorated place to have the perfect fall family photo taken by Kara Hoegh.
In addition, the Harriman-Nielsen home will be open for a walk-through tour, featuring recent renovations. A market complete with items from the farm’s garden will be for sale, and will include aronia/grape jelly, dry bean soup mix in a jar, pumpkins, squash, broomcorn, potatoes and gourds. An open flea market of vendors will also be selling a variety of things including baked goods, artwork, homemade crafts and antiques.
