The Hampton City Council began their regular meeting on Thursday, April 11 with two declarations on the agenda, but before getting to either of those a third impromptu declaration was made.
"Enough of this bad weather," declared Mayor Brook Boehmler.
After declaring that the City of Hampton was officially ready for spring to begin, the city also recognized April 26 as Arbor Day in Hampton, in particular urging citizens to support the tree board. With $8,000 raised for new trees in town, the tree board will be busy this year with projects. They are looking at planting at least 100 trees this year, including 30 tress along the trail near Casey's.
"We'll be planting on Arbor Day and throughout the month of April," said Dick Lukensmeyer.
