The Hampton City Council agreed to help local residents who’ve recently ran their water to avoid frozen pipes, but just how much assistance they’ll provide is still unknown.

The council heard from a handful of citizens that experienced freeze-ups during the past month at their Monday night workshop. Some residents went without water for as little as a day, while some were dry for nearly two weeks. However, all asked the council to have leniency on residents who’ve let their faucets run to keep their pipes thawed.

Dan Rodemeyer said he and his wife, Lu, were without water for 13 days at their First Avenue Southeast home.
