It was an evening of high spirits on Friday as Hampton businesses opened their doors for the fifth annual Winter Wine Walk.

Organized by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, the ticketed event was a sell out success, sending more than 250 people through the city to visit area businesses and sample various wines.

From first time participants like Engelbrecht Family Winery out of Fredericksburg to Wine Walk regulars like Hansell’s Townsend Winery, area wineries set up tasting booths across the city to offer samples of more than 50 different kinds of wine.

“It’s really nice,” said Judy Harper of Townsend Winery, who set up at Northside One Stop this year. “It’s a great thing to do. It’s a wonderful promotion for the county and the businesses in the area.”
