H-D second graders got bugged on Friday, May 17 as volunteers from the Iowa State Insect Zoo visited Hampton to give a presentation on insect life.
Showing off a selection of beetles, mantises, millipedes, and more, the kids got a first-hand look at a variety of bugs and learned that most of them are nothing to be afraid of.
"We want all the kids to feel safe around insects as well as talk about conservation and how insects are good for the earth," said Avery Wickham, one of the ISU presenters. "A lot of them are really scared, so it's really cool at the end when the girl that screamed when we pulled out a beetle is holding them at the end."
