H-D board talks teachers’ contracts

The Hampton-Dumont school board released its counteroffer to the H-D Education Association’s initial contract proposal during a short meeting Monday night.
The board proposed a 2.1 percent salary increase for the 2015-16 school year. The offer fell short of the education association’s original 6.04 percent increase request, but it did include a 3.02 percent rise in health insurance premiums next year.
The board’s offer would also keep base salary locked at $33,635. According to Superintendent Todd Lettow, uncertainty over state funding and a tight budget led the board to settle on the 2.1 percent counterproposal.
