The Hampton-Dumont Board of Education chose a veteran administrator to lead the district’s two elementary schools next year during a special closed-session meeting Monday night.
Ellen Pickhinke, current principal at Ridge View Middle School and Schaller-Crestland Elementary, will take the helm at North Side and South Side during the 2016-17 school year. Pickhinke has 12 years of administrative experience and five years of teaching experience.
“I was attracted to the job by the size of the school, because it’s a little bit larger than where I’m at right now,” she said. “I was excited to take on a new challenge, but I was also intrigued by the school’s student achievement data. I think it’s a progressive school right now.”
