The Geneva Market holds a special place in the heart of Dawn Garbes.
Garbes, who operates Nashua, Iowa-based Country Boy Salvage, said the bi-annual market was her first show as a vendor nearly five years ago, when the Geneva Market was just finding its legs.
“A lot of us that were at that first one, it was all of our first markets that we had been to,” she said, adding that the advent of the Geneva Market has allowed her business and many others to grow from just out-of-home sales. “Doing a market helps us so much for getting our name out there and we got a following from doing markets, so now people come to us when we have an event.”
Now almost five years later, the bi-annual recorded its highest number of vendors for its spring edition, with 103 spots taken. And like each year since the first market, Garbes was there to offer handmade goods made from reclaimed wood and other materials.
“I’m so proud to be part of it,” she said.
