Gary Riles, 82, of Dougherty, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at the Sheffield Care Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield with burial in the Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the the Sietsema-Atkinson Funeral Home in Hampton.

Gary Dean Riles was born on February 2, 1941 in Clarion, Iowa to Clifford and June (Kreitlow) Riles. On February 17, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Frances Rieman in the Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield. Gary served in the United States Army. He farmed his entire life in the Sheffield area and had several other jobs.

Gary is survived by his sons Steve and Mike Riles of Sheffield, brothers Gene (Carolyn) Riles of Sheffield, Greg (Diane) Riles of Sheffield and Grant (Melinda) Riles of Emporia, Kansas, brother-in-law Richard Ubben of Dumont and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances, sisters-in-law Virginia Ubben and Judy Rieman and brother-in-law Merlyn Rieman.
