The Hampton Cemetery is a place for reverence, reflection and tranquility and the Friends of the Hampton Cemetery are working to ensure it stays as such.
The group is currently in the middle of a multi-step project to clean up, refresh and help make sure the cemetery is an inviting and peaceful place for those who come to pay respect to their loved ones.
Paul Flint, with Friends of the Hampton Cemetery, said likely this week, new signs at all three entrances will be installed. The signs contain maps of the cemetery with each section highlighted so visitors can find where their loved ones are buried or the location of landmarks throughout the grounds. He added that each section will have brand new signs.
“We think that will give more access, more visibility for people as they walk through the cemetery to get a better bearing on where the sections are,” he said.
Flint continued that another top priority of the board is to refurbish the two mausoleums, which have fallen into disrepair.
