Franklin County Arts Council scholarship benefit concert set for March 17

The stage is set for the eighth annual Franklin County Arts Council Young Performing Artist and Scholarship Benefit Concert on Saturday, March 17 at 7 p.m., at Faith Baptist Church in Hampton.
There will be feature performances by Kristin Schwecke, a vocal faculty member at Salem College in North Carolina and Chad Sonka, the winner of 2017 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and a member of the Iowa State University voice faculty. In addition to their individual performances, Kristin and Chad will be singing with a combined Franklin County High School Choir performing "It's a Grand Night for Singing" from the musical, State Fair, and "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the musical, Carousel.
Tickets are currently on sale at Center I in Hampton. They are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets may also be purchased at the door the night of the concert. Doors for the event will open at 6:30 p.m.
All proceeds of the event will benefit the Franklin County Arts Council Scholarship fund. Since the inception of this concert in 2011, 17 Franklin County seniors have been awarded $1,000 scholarships to continue their education in the fine arts.
