The Franklin County Alcoholism Service Center is scheduled to close at the end of the year.
Larry Fanny, director of the center since 2010, informed the Franklin County Board of Supervisors last week that he is retiring and services will end on Dec. 31st. Fanny said that Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon meetings will still be held at the center on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m. until further notice.
Fanny said the center will start referring clients to new services until Jan. 1.
Fanny said that the closing of the center is unfortunate, but services in the area exist to continue to give people the assistance they need.
