Franklin Chorale founder Mary Lou Semler announced last week she will step down as director of the choir but the end of her tenure with the group landed on the perfect.
Following the Chorale’s annual Christmas Concert, the Franklin County Arts Council Board honored Semler with the inaugural FCAC Merit Award. Semler, who founded the Chorale in 1978 and served as its director for a total of 23 years, said she couldn’t imagine a better way to go out.
“I love that (Christmas) concert,” she said. “It was a great concert this year and it just felt like I was going out on a high note.”
