A mild August sun reflecting off the more than 100 gleaming cars at the Hampton Summerfest Car Show set the tone for an active day at Band Shell Park.
“I would have to say, the day could not have been better weather-wise,” said Newton Grotzinger, Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “Overall, it was picture perfect.”
A car show record 127 cars from all eras across Iowa, and even outside of state lines, packed the streets around Band Shell Park. The vast array of vehicles, as well as vendors, food trucks, games and the ever-popular Whitesidewalls, attracted a crowd measuring in the hundreds.
“I don’t know if I’ve ever seen so many people in the park for Summerfest,” he said. “Everybody left happy.”
