First Bank of Hampton donated $2,500 to the Hampton Tree Board for the purchase of several trees to be placed along Rolling Prairie Trail.
“I think it’s a good opportunity, from the bank’s perspective, it’s an important project for the community,” said President and CEO of First Bank Hampton David Heuberger.
The money donated will purchase White Pines, Red Oaks, White Oak, Tulip tree and Kentucky Coffee, as well as go towards putting protective fences around the trees while they grow.
Tree Board Representative Rick Reiken explained that the trees selected will be diverse pollinators, encouraging different types of insects and birds to balance out the ecosystem, which has been unbalanced due to deforestation of such pollinating trees.
