No one was injured in a fire that damaged a Hampton home Thursday.
Hampton Fire Chief Kent Wilkinson said crews responded to a structure fire at 619 Third St. NE at 11:23 a.m., on Thursday, Dec. 14. No one was home at the time of the fire.
He said the fire appeared to have started halfway up the stairwell leading to the basement and spread to an upstairs hallway and the kitchen.
Wilkinson said crews were able to subdue the fire shortly after arrival and were on the scene for about an hour and a half.
He said the home sustained significant smoke and water damage on the main floor but the home did not receive major structural damage.
No one was injured as a result and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
