FC Sheriff's Office hires new deputy

    The staff at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office grew by one this month following the addition of Deputy Josh Einspahr.
    The job is the Illinois native’s first in law enforcement. He has spent the past two weeks training under fellow deputies during ride-alongs and other activities, which has given the rookie a better grasp of both Franklin County and the everyday duties of his new position.
    “I’m really enjoying it so far,” he said. “I’ve just been seeing how it all works and making it all work. We’ve been really busy.”
    Einspahr will fill the void left at the sheriff’s office following the retirement of Leon Root. He was one of a handful of finalists picked from a crowded field of applicants after making his way to the top by passing various tests and a background check.
