Did you know that El Valle will be celebrating 24 years of business this May?

We stopped by last Thursday to chat with several employees and manager Nadia Garcia, who’s been at the store since the day they opened. Garcia told the Chronicle that she loves everything about her job, especially working with all the customers who stop by. She and fellow manager, Claudia Venegas, oversee their day-to-day operations, from managing staff to checking out customers.

Another employee, who was busy stocking the meat counter, added that she appreciates the tight-knit atmosphere they have at work.

As you walk into the store, you will immediately notice the wide variety of products that is offered, most of which is sourced with their Latino customers in mind. They have everything from piñatas for parties to cheeses and creams that are used in traditional dishes. Some of their most popular products include their fresh vegetables, pan dulce, dried chiles, pork ribs and chicharrones, among other items.

The store was originally opened in May of 2002 by Zugey Venegas and Jesus Olmos, who also own a restaurant and store in Humboldt and a store and taco shop in Eagle Grove. And according to their employees, these two owners (and their managers) have fostered a fun and efficient workplace for all.

Want to check it out? El Valle, which is located at 212 1st Ave NE in Hampton, is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
