Latimer is set to welcome a new business.
West Des Moines-based Burtek Dry Ice owners last week announced that they will be opening a new facility in Latimer. Franklin County Development Executive Director Karen Mitchell said the company will occupy the former Hutchinson/Mayrath building in the Latimer Business Park.
Burtek owner Mike Kentfield said Latimer was a perfect location for the company’s second plant due to its proximity to the new Prestage Farms location in Eagle Grove. Aside from supplying dry ice to Prestage, Kentfield said Latimer also offers the opportunity for the business to expand north and east.
“That’s been our goal for a while,” he said. “One of the big reasons was where the building is located is right off the interstate (35) which is important to us.”
Kentfield said no beginning date has been set, as construction needs to be complete.
