The description of a suspect in a Hampton stabbing crime was still unavailable Tuesday night four hours after the incident took place.

Emergency medical personnel and police officers responded to a 911 call at 4:24 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in the 900 block of First Avenue Southeast. Responders found a teenage female stabbing victim in a residence and secured the area before transporting her to the hospital for further treatment.

The perpetrator remains at large. No information was available on the condition of the victim at the time of this posting Tuesday night. Details of the crime scene weren't released by law enforcement.

Investigators were unable to release any information on a suspect description.

“The reason for that is we don’t want to put something out there that the perpetrator can use for whatever,” said Police Chief Bob Schaefer.

The Hampton Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations are investigating the crime. Officials planned to speak to the victim to obtain any details about the perpetrator’s description.

Schaefer said information about the suspect’s description will be released when it’s available. He encouraged citizens to exercise normal precautions like locking their doors and keeping their properties well lit at night.
