Denny Edward Shirk, 72

Denny Edward Shirk, 72, of Hampton, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center.  He was born July 12, 1948, in Waterloo, to LeRoy and Pearl (Wallace) Shirk.

Denny served his country in the United States Air Force.  He was united in marriage to Sandra Jean Hanson on November 1, 1970, in Janesville.  To this union, two sons were born. 

Denny received his Associate’s Degree in Massage Therapy in July 1994.  In May 1997, he was an instructor at North Iowa Area Community College for BLS-AED, First Aid and was an EMS evaluator.  Denny also worked for Solar Transport, Hampton Hydraulics, Kaydon, Inc. and SeaBee Corporation over the years.  Denny enjoyed golfing, trains and volunteer work; lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

Denny is survived by his son Charlie (Sarah) Shirk of Hampton; son Chris Shirk of Burlington; grandchildren Taylin, Triston, Reece, Dalton, Trinity, Alyssa, Camden, Olivia, Wesley and Sienna Shirk; significant other Phyllis Sargent of Hampton; brother Gale (Marilyn) Shirk of Tuscan, Arizona; and brother Lynn (Bobbi) Shirk of Spring Branch, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Sandra, and brothers Walt (Sue) Shirk, Bob (Bev) Shirk and Charles Shirk.

Visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021, at the Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home in Hampton.  A private family graveside service will take place in the Hampton Cemetery at a later date.
