The City of Coulter is pleased to let the community know that the new playground at the city park is ready for action.
The new playground consists of climbing ramps, slides, a bridge and a swing set. Two rocking features were also installed.
The city was able to install the playground thanks to help from grants and volunteers. The project received a $10,000 grant from the Evelyn and Foster Barkema Charitable Trust for new lights at the baseball field and the playground equipment, $3,500 for landscaping from the Franklin County Community Foundation and $5,000 from the Whispering Willow Wind Farm to also help with costs for the new field lights.
Myron Lawler, Mark Brown and Kerry Etzel lead a team of volunteers in constructing the playground, which became ready for use about a month ago. Martin Marietta, owner of Martin Marietta Aggregates out of Dows, donated pea gravel for the surface.
