Cougars rip Broncos defensively

ACKLEY – Three games without its leading scorer and rebounding and the AGWSR boys’ basketball team has responded just fine.
Ask coach Russ Banzhaf and he was particularly impressed with his team’s defense in the Cougars’ latest conquest, a 60-24 rout of non-conference opponent Belmond-Klemme on Thursday, Jan. 28.
“Defensive has been the key to our success,” Banzhaf said, “and what’s been carrying us recently. Defensively, we played pretty well. We didn’t get off to a real quick start, but I thought the kids after a bit of a sluggish first half, fought back in the second half.”
