Environmental enthusiasts from across the area gathered in Ventura on Tuesday, Oct. 10 for the 2017 REAP Assembly meeting.
REAP (Resource Enhancement and Protection) is a state conservation program dedicated to supporting and maintaining Iowa's natural environment through grants and education programs. Every other year REAP Regional Assemblies are held, allowing the public to learn about how the program distributes its funds and to offer feedback opportunities for regional projects.
Included in REAP Region 2 are Cerro Gordo, Mitchell, Floyd, Kossuth, Franklin, Hancock and Worth counties.
In 2017, REAP provided Franklin County with $13,148 in funding for County Conservation along with $13,444 for soil and water enhancement programs. In total, Franklin County has received $1,120,709 since the program began in 1990.
