Sometimes, the first choice may be the best bet.

Such is the case for Cortanie Cobie, a new preschool teacher at North Side Elementary School in Hampton.

Cobie, a Wellsburg native and AGWSR graduate, kicked off her teaching career last Monday and she didn’t have to look long to find her first position.

“This was my first interview,” she said. “It’s been great so far and I’m very grateful this came up.”

Cobie said choosing Hamp-ton-Dumont was a relatively easy decision, as the district and the community felt like a natural fit.

“It just felt right and I felt like it was a good decision and it was,” she said. “In high school, I played sports here, I came up for the fair so I was familiar with Hampton. It didn’t feel like I’d get homesick.
