HAMPTON – At the very start, it was evident which tennis team had an established program.

Clear Lake, which had the top singles player in the state at Thursday’s meet, flexed its muscle against the second-year Hampton-Dumont boys’ squad, 9-0, at Progress Park.

Sam Jones, which qualified for the state tennis meet as a freshman for the Lions, gave up only one game – in doubles play – against H-D. In fact, the powerful hitter with a lot of spin rarely gave up a point.
