SHEFFIELD – Class 2A No. 5 Osage built a 25-1 lead against West Fork and meant business, launching three-pointers in an effort to put this Top of Iowa East Conference game away.
The Green Devils (19-2, 15-1 TIC) never got the continuous clock going against coach Rodney Huber’s Warhawks, but the outcome was never in doubt as Osage clinched a share of the Top of Iowa East Conference with the 59-25 win.
Sidney Brandau scored 26 points for the Green Devils going off for 15 in the second half.
West Fork was held to only a single point – a free throw by Makenzie Fessler – with 3 minutes, 22 seconds left and defensively held the Warhawks’ leading scorer, Emily Caspers to three points and just five rebounds. She’d had her third straight double-double prior to this game.
Fessler led the Warhawks with seven points.
It was the final regular-season game for West Fork, which finished 10-11 overall, 10-6 in the TIC East, good for fourth in the nine-team field.
It was final tune-up for the Warhawks, who were set to face Sumner-Fredericksburg (12-10) at Sumner on Saturday, Feb. 15.
